FAQ

Who are you?

My name is Brandon and I live in Perth, Western Australia.

When did you make this site?

I didn't. Jordon Kalilich made this site in 2002 and released it on August 21, 2002.

So what happened to Jordon?

I took over from Jordon in February 2008. I submitted a support request on 9 February (my time) to get the account transferred.

And why did Jordon hand the website over?

eBay did it (its founder handed the reins over to Meg Whitman, the current CEO) and Google might so it someday.

Where are the coin images from?

Why don't you ask Jordon using his old FAQs? Click here.

You have x amount of coins for y country, but only z amount of coins for m country!

That's because we haven't scanned or received a submission for x number of coins in m country. If you're still with me, you can submit coins to us.

Old FAQ

How did you get the idea to make this site?

In the summer of 2002, I stumbled upon a site where you could choose a coin and virtually "flip" it. I tried it, but the site was so slow I gave up. So I decided to create my own virtual coin-flipping site.

So what is it good for?

The site is great for solving disputes when you don't have a coin around. Other than that, I don't really know.

Have you been fascinated by flipping coins since you were a small child?

Umm, no. I just thought it would be a cool idea for a web site.

I got heads (or tails) a bunch of times in a row. What's wrong?

Nothing. You see, flipping a coin virtually is a little different than in the real world. The site may come up with heads or tails four or five times in a row, but given enough tries, the heads-to-tails ratio should be about equal.

Where are the coin images from?

I scanned the coins myself using an ordinary scanner.

Why don't you have the coin I want to flip?

Because I don't physically have the coin, and thus cannot scan it.

Can I submit a coin, then?

Why, yes, actually. See the Submit page for guidelines.
